Synthetic tests
3DMark Vantage
We begin our tests starting from the benchmark produced by Futuremark, 3DMark Vantage. The test was done by selecting only the two-step related to the CPU and the performance preset setting.
Llano is exactly half way between the Phenom II 840 and the Phenom II 945, as expected. The difference between the CPU test 1 and 2 is probably due to a greater or lesser commitment of the memory, where the L3 cache can make the difference.
PCMark Vantage
We continue with the other benchmark from Futuremark, the PCMark Vantage. In this case we have selected only the PCMark Suite.
Also in this test Llano goes between the two old-generation CPUs, but this time the L2 cache and the other improvements led him close to the Phenom II 945.
AIDA64 EXTREME ENGINEERING
Moving on to FinalWire software.
We launch the benchmark related to memory and cache, noting that with regard to latency, a lower value equals better performance.
Memory read speed is sligtly higher than that of the Propus core, thanks to the improvements to the RAM controller. The Phenom II 945 goes in the last place, because of its lower RAM frequency. Regarding the cache, except for the absence of the L3 cache value, there are no differences worthy of note, a sign that the new architecture is not very different from the old in this point of view. Same situation than reading for the writing. No noticeable difference except for the absence of value for the L3 cache. Moving at the copying speed test, finally we see significant differences on the copy in RAM than the previous architectures, thanks to the improvements to the controller. The Phenom II 945 ranks again the last result, because of its lower RAM frequency. As for the cache, except for the absence of value for the L3 cache, there are no worth noting differences yet. Considering, finally, the latency tests, we note that compared to Propus, Llano lost, probably due to the overhead for the management of the GPU. The Phenom II 945 ranks again the last result, because of its lower RAM frequency. As for the cache, except for the absence of value for the L3 cache, there are no worth noting differences yet.
